Daniel Pickett

AFi founder and Editor-in-Chief Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett has been in toys his whole life. The first line he collected was Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line in the 70s. Since then he has been surrounded by collectibles. In 1999 he was troubled by the lack of information and reports about some of his favorite toy lines he was collecting. When he couldn’t find the information he decided to follow it himself thinking that others would be interested in the same information. He began writing a weekly column about the toy industry and fashion industry for a toy news site, and over the past three years has had three daily outlets with his updates, reviews and product features. He built relationships with toy manufacturers and many sculptors, painters and mold makers. He cultivated his interest in the international expertise embraced by the industry. In 2004 he teamed up with fellow actor Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and created their own website www.ActionFigureInsider.com. Daniel has been mentioned in industry and mass media. Over the years Daniel and AFi have been sought after experts in the field. Daniel is regularly featured on “Attack of the Show” on the G4 network as the first contributor to their “Mint On Card” segment, and our previous page has been linked from the blog ” Pop Candy” by USA Today’s. Daniel’s stories have also been featured on Bloomberg News, MSNBC.com, Time.com, The Wall Street Journal, The Saturday Evening Post, CNN.com, AssociatedPress.com Wired.com, Fark.com, Boing- Boing, Gizmodo.com, Ain’t It Cool News, the Official Star Wars blog, Geekologie, G4, CNet and Toy Fare magazine, among many others. He has consulted for toy lines, books, documentaries and television shows. But it’s all just tooting and “tootin’ his own horn” – the long and short of it is that Daniel likes toys and he likes to talk about them.
