The 100 Best Places To Dine In America, According To Yelp

Yelp, the company that connects people with great local businesses, today announced its 10th annual Top 100 Places to Eat list, celebrating must-visit restaurants in communities across the United States.

Every year, Yelp analyzes millions of reviews on its platform and considers suggestions from users to name the best local dining spots, including food trucks, cafes and delis.

Top of the list this year is Broken Mouth in Los Angeles. With a 5-star Yelp rating and over 1,300 reviews, the Hawaiian-Korean cafe serves hearty dishes like spam musubi, a plate of spam wrapped in seaweed on purple rice, and jun meat, a traditional fried beef dish. Broken Mouth’s location in the city’s food hall makes this local favorite a hidden gem.

Broken Mouth’s high point is also part of the larger island cuisine trend on this list. For the first time, island cuisine leads the top five on the list, with Kaaloa’s Super Js Authentic Hawaiian Food taking second place, and Adela’s Country Eatery in Oahu landing at number five.

“From food trucks and sandwich shops to fine dining, the Top 100 list reflects the diverse tastes and uniqueness of our user community,” said Tara Lewis, Yelp’s Trend Expert. “It is powered by people, not a small group of restaurant critics, and we look forward to customers continuing to share their dining experience in their reviews.”

To determine Yelp’s Top Places to Eat in 2023, Yelp first reached out to the user community, asking individuals to submit their favorite restaurants. Yelp’s data science team analyzes submissions from the community, determining top restaurants based on ratings, number of reviews, and submission volume, with geographic representation based on an equal share of top-rated restaurant submissions nationally. Yelp further curated the list with the expertise of Community Managers around the country to finalize the rankings. And here they are:
